Dear Friends and Supporters of Ithemba
Today we would like to inform you about the newest developments at Ithemba. In December 2012, just before the summer holidays, we received our own NPO number. This number enables us to go independent as an organization on its own. A meeting was held with the Director of Mental Health, Mrs Septoe and the Ithemba committee. This meeting was held on 8 February 2013. We were told that as from 01st of April 2013 we would be independent. Mental Health would be ready to give us all the help and support that we need to start off with as so many things now need to be put into place such as getting a book keeper, external auditors and all the other needs that will go with independence. However, we will have to pay for their support. This is exciting news for us! However it comes with a lot of responsibilities and new experiences for all of us. We have been given exactly 35 working days in which to go independent.
On Wednesday, 20 February, we received a very alarming e-mail from the Director of Mental Health. We are really in desperate need of help as it would be a terrible tragedy for all our children if the centre has to close. Any donation towards running costs will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small as every little bit helps.
